Mum and I had the deepest conversation as we laid in our designated beds.

She apologised to me for always making me be the middle man and abusing that I never complain. She cried.

She blamed herself for having a fatherless family and her children having a disadvantaged childhood.

I went crazy at her for even saying that - I told her that I saw the positives. Heck, I got to draw on our furniture when we were little because they were all cardboard! Hahahaha

I finally opened up and said my piece of mind - and she was astonished at the things I suffered through that went on right in front of her and she didn't know.

I admitted that I left Brisbane not for my academia but to hold on to my sanity.
I told her that I've never been happier and stable - and I feel selfish for leaving mum behind but I had no choice if I wanted to keep my head.

We ended the night with a talk about my lost future.
